WSQ – MASTERING DEFENSIVE ROAD SKILLS (I) FOR MOTORISTS
The “WSQ – Mastering Defensive Road Skills (I) for Motorists” course is targeted for all employed personnel engaged in the transportation of people, goods, and services
e.g. bus transport, logistics, medical transport, food and beverage services, etc.
Under the Skills Framework for Workplace Safety and Health, this course is designed to manage the movement of vehicles (relative to workplace definition) and pedestrians on roads to minimise traffic risks and hazards.

Course Objectives:
This course is designed to equip learners with the relevant skills and knowledge to gain valuable insights into avoiding potential hazards on the road and apply preventive measures to ensure safe riding and/or driving.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
1. Understand the fundamental requirements for motorists in Road Traffic Safety Management
2. Adhere to traffic signs, and signals in different scenarios
3. Apply fundamental requirements for motorists in Road Traffic Safety Management
4. Follow correct instructions to apply emergency procedures according to established guidelines
5. Use appropriate methods of reporting road incidents, accidents, and traffic hazards
6. Review continual improvement of Road Traffic Safety Procedures
Who this course is suitable for:
- Full-time or part-time employees in riding and/or driving roles on a contract of service
- Individuals operating vehicles requiring Class 2B/2A/2, Class 3, Class 4, or Class 5 driving licences or below, e.g., motorcycles, cars, vans, and trams
- Vehicle fleet supervisors as well as staff who manage such vehicle fleets
Pre-Requisites for Course Enrolment:
- Hold a valid driving license e.g. Class 2B/ 2A/ 2 and be medically fit to attend the practical session of the course
- Demonstrate basic language proficiency in English (both oral and writing) for assessment and training administration
- Access to SINGPASS for course attendance and completion of course administrative surveys
Course Duration:
The course duration will be a 1-day (8 hours) course. It will incorporate both theory and practical components that consist of interactive lectures, group discussion, self-reflection and in-vehicle practical sessions in order to drive an outcome-driven learning experience for our learners.
The course will be taught by our ACLP-certified trainers with years of experience in drivers’ training and instructional coaching across multiple industries both locally and internationally.

Road safety and legal requirements for motorists involve adhering to traffic laws such as obeying speed limits, wearing seat belts, and ensuring vehicles are properly insured and maintained.

Emergency Procedures for Motorists
You will learn emergency procedures if involved in an accident or experiencing a breakdown. You will also learn how to assess the situation, and call emergency services if necessary.

Traffic Rules, Regulations and Workplace Traffic Safety
Traffic rules ensure safe road movement, including speed limits, traffic signals, and safety measures like seat belts. Workplace traffic safety focuses on preventing accidents through safe driving practices, vehicle maintenance, and safety protocols for drivers.

Incident and Accident Reporting Procedures for Motorists
You will learn incident and accident reporting procedures during an accident. Drivers must also file an insurance claim and comply with legal reporting requirements.

Essential Safety Measures and Conduct for Traffic Movement
Essential safety measures and conduct for traffic movement include obeying traffic signals, adhering to speed limits, wearing seat belts, and maintaining a safe following distance.

Continual Improvement in Road Safety
Continual improvement in road safety focuses on regularly staying updated on policies, enhancing driver education, and adopting new technologies to reduce the risks of accidents.
Attendance Requirements:
- Learners must attend both the theory and practical learning units prescribed in this course as eligibility for the end-of-course assessment
- Learners who fail to attend or leave mid-way of the course without valid reason/s will be deemed as ‘Absent’ from the course – kindly refer to ‘Refund Policy’ below
Course Completion Requirements:
- As this is a WSQ certifiable course, learners must complete both the theory and practical learning units and be assessed to receive the Statement of Attainment (SOA)
Course Cancellation / Rescheduling Policy:
- Learners must provide a written notice with supporting documents for course cancellation at least 7 days prior to the course start date. Upon acceptance, learners will be allowed to re-schedule to next available training date
- Learners must provide supporting document/s for absence on the actual course day. Upon acceptance, learners will be allowed to re-schedule to the next available training date
Refund Policy:
- There will be no refund of the full course fees for course cancellation less than 7 days
- No refund of the full course fees is permitted for absence from the course
- We may cancel or reschedule due to unforeseen events; in case of cancellation, all paid fees will be fully refunded
